Jayant,

I have not been to these places, but my sister- in- law has been to all these places many times. I can get some information from her.

JS,

I have been to Banglore, Ooty, Kodaikanal, Kerala and Munnar. They are great places. Especially Ooty, Kodaikanal and Munnar. It all depends on what you are looking for at these places. Are you going for complete rest and destressing or sightseeing. In any case......Ooty, Kodaikanal and Munnar will provide you all.

You can stay at Monarch Hotel of the Bengal Tiger "Mithunda". Maybe be you can avail some discount being a Bengali Baabu. (IMG:style_emoticons/OurHFMEmot/tongue.gif)

I have been to Kodaikanal twice and found it even better than many hill stations in the North India, including Mussorie & Simla. You can get down at Kodaikanal Road staion and take a cab or bus, or, you can also approach from Madurai by bus. There is a moderately good hotel Estoria near the state Roadways stand. full day sght seeing tours are available with the option of breaking it in two parts i,e., first half on first day and the second half the next day.
Have been to Ooty(If you search for Ooty station in railway time table, look for Udagamandalam) once long time back. Nilgiris are beautiful offering a lovely train ride. But relatively speaking I found Kodai much better. But choices can differ from man to man.
Good luck
