QUOTE(Rishii @ Apr 22 2010, 10:14 AM) *

Well, my comment comes on the basis of inclusion of technically sound players like Dravid, Kallis, M Vijay etc. These players are so sound technically that it doesnt matter to them whether its T20 or Test match. Sachin is technically sound but not a big hitter (though he used to be once). He has so brilliantly demonstrated that you need to place the ball in the correct areas. With only 3 sixes compared to the tally of Utthappa and Hayden, he remains the highest scorer. He compensated the sixes with the fours. And as he correctly said, its all about waiting for the loose delivery. The runs are bound to come. No need to hit a six. There are players who hit a six and then play four dot balls. Whats the difference then ?

Coming to Pujara. He is technically sound. Maybe in a couple of years he will mould himself to the demands of this format. It took the third IPL for M Vijay to adapt. Same goes for Shukla and other players.

There r very few cricketers in the world who play correct cricket shots rather than slogs and innovative shots in the limited version of the game. From the youngsters its Vijay and Rohit Sharma who comes to my mind.

M.Vijay was not in the Chennai Team in the 1st IPL.Its not adaption which Vijay has done as he plays clean cricketing shots. Its his timing, flow and power that makes the difefrence between him and Badrinath (another player in Pujara mould).

What Pujara will do in 2 years that time will only say but coming to this IPL he was a misfit in the playing XI and KKR should hv played some better players who could hv tried 2 score runs quickly.

If u go through the records of this year IPL there has been only 1 match (AFAIR) which MI won where Sachin didn't perform other than yesterday's semi final.

Of course.......thats true. But he has the backup like Pollard, Rayudu, Tiwari, Duminy. But if you ask me, compared to MI, RCB had a much better batting line-up. 184 was not a target whic was impossible to chase, considering their batting line-up. So I dont know why they buckled down. Like Kumble said, till the 9th over we were well within the game. The double strikes in Pollard's over took the game away from us.

2wkts in 2balls including the runout of Dravid was the turning point.

Pollard can hit them big as he has the power but they all bowled 2 his strength by pitching it up.

Yes, exactly............Pollard and Yusuf Pathan can be devastating if the ball is pitched up. Both players are tall and have a weakness for short-pitched deliveries. They can convert even a good length ball to an overpitched one by taking their big stride forward. But both players find it uncomfortable if they are given to face a rising delivery near their chest. Though everbody discovered this weakness of Pathan, nobody bothered to implement the same on Pollard.

The worst part is the bowlers try 2give Yorkers and land up pitching the ball up.

100 % correct. That's what I keep saying to my friends when we watch IPL together. A slight error in bowling a yorker could result in either an over-pitched or full delivery. Either is a lollypop for the batsman. But still if they need to bowl, it should be slightly away from the bat.

Geoff Boycott once commented - "No Bowler ever gets a batsman out. It is the batsman who gets himself out". So correct. Because bowler is never going to know how the batsman is going to react to his bowl before he bowls. So it is the choice of the batsman's shot on the particular ball that either rewards of punishes the bowler.

There goes CSK with the trophy. JS, I am sure you might be unhappy. (IMG:style_emoticons/OurHFMEmot/tongue.gif)

But according to me, Zaheer Khan single handedly took the match away from MI. No doubt that the drop catch in his over proved crucial, but it was a case of misunderstanding between two catchers. However after that he went for 12 runs and overall 17 in the over. That over opened the gates for CSK, especially Raina to slog out to a comfortable total. Immediately the next over, Zaheer dropped a lolly. Its a pity that he couldnt take a catch as simple as that. Raina went on to score some 30 odd runs after that chance and MI lost by 20 runs.

Second blunder was not sending Pollard a couple of overs early. He should have been sent before Tiwari and Duminy. Pollards hitting could have, at that point of time, lowered the asking rate alarmingly and then had he got out, Tiwari and Duminy would have comfortable finished it off.

Well, in your place, Dipak Dubaiwala would have drowned his sorrows in a couple of bottles of rum. (IMG:style_emoticons/OurHFMEmot/tongue.gif)

But considering the Modi fiasco and the money transactions taking place, I am wondering if there was any betting related to the CSK win.

What do you say about the T20 WORLD CUP fiasco ?

These bunch of jokers are now good for IPL only. Dont let them play for the name "INDIA" as such results hurt the sentiments of the citizens badly. These jokers wont be slightly apologetic about their performance. Hotel gaye honge aur wohi party ki hogi jo hum sab ne IPL mein dekhi hai.

Very true.........its sad that the lone fighter like V Anand are not discussed much in media. They are keeping the country proud. But its sad that they arent celebrated as much as these bunch of jokers are.
