Padmasri Sri. SP Balasubrahmanyam performing in a Live Concert in Seattle (for the first time in his career spanning almost 4 decades) presented by HTCC (http://www.htccwa.org) as a musical fundraiser on Friday, September 15th 2006, went on to sing some of the gems of his career in Telugu (Antha Ramamayam [Sri Ramadasu], Adigo Alladigo [Annamayya], Sankara [Shankarabharanam], Vedam [Sagara Sangamam], Ee Divilo Virisina [ Kanne Vayasu]), Tamil ([Varumayin Nirum Sigappu], Sundari [Thalapathy], Nilavendum [Mouna Raagam], Devuda Devuda [Chandramukhi]), Hindi (Ek Duje Ke Liye, Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aap Ke Hain Koun, Saagar ) and Kannada (Endendu [Hombisulu]).
Smt. Sailaja Sudhakar who had sung so many memorable songs in her career sang (Lalu Darwaza Lashkaru Pandaga [Mondi Mogudu Penki Pellam] a solo & Vedam [ Sagara Sangamam] & received standing ovation for an outstanding rendition. When Mallikarjuna Rao started of his solo singing when he enacted the steps and mannerisms of the Megastar Chiranjeevi when he sang the number Bham Bham Bole [ Indra] the crowd was left asking for more. He went on to sing some of very popular AR Rahman and Mani Sharma composed Hariharan & Shankar Mahadevan numbers & the audience were truly entertained. Gopika Poornima sang some popular numbers which included a solo and a good number of duets. The backbone of the program, the orchestra from India (Phany Muktevi (Manager) - Conga Drums, Paulraj - Tabla, Venugopal Raju - Tabla, Krishna - Conga Drums & Percussion Pads, Swami - Percussion Pads, Ravishankar - Flute, Srinivasachar - Lead Guitar, Alexander - Bass Guitar, Praveen - Keyboard, Chinna - Keyboard & the Sound Engineer) , were a great pick of musicians & their peformance was blemishless. Vanisri Vishwa, a local classical singer and teacher, who was one of the organizers of Sri. SP Balasubrahmanyam concert, sang a song to the legend in person when meeting to discuss the show details. Sri. SP Balasubrahmanyam was impressed by her singing and said he normally would not like to have anybody else sing on stage other the original orchestra, asked if she could sing a song on the concert day and she could not believe her ears. After a few minutes of choosing which song to sing, "Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju" from Chiranjeevi's 1987 Telugu blockbuster "Rakshasudu" scored by the genius Ilaiyaraja was selected. As the meaning of the song translates, it was a great day & moment to remember & cherish for the rest of the lives for both Vanisri Vishwa and her husband Vishwa Gaddamanugu. The Video can be watched at: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=68...&pr=goog-sl A majority of the sold out concert folks who attended were mesmerized and vouched to attend the concert by Sri.
