Dear Veekay,
The song you are looking for is from the movie 'Garam Coat.' It is beautifully set in and sung in Raag Manj Khamaj. Lata seems to have had a particular affinity for this raag. Whatever she has sung in this raag is priceless. Lata Mangeshkar - Jogiya Se Preet Ki (Garam Coat, 55, MD Pandit Amarnath)

You are very welcome, Romee!
My 'raag-based knowledge' is practically non-existent, but it's a start. :) As Tennyson once said, Yet all experience is an arch wherethrough Gleams that untravelled world, whose margin fades For ever and for ever when I move. Indydave |

Thankyou so much Indy.
This exceptoinally beautiful raag based song was lying dormant since long in my memory till the day I was reminded by an article in TOI recently under their spiritual column written by a disciple of Pt. Amarnath who in turn was the best known disciple of Ustad Amir Khan saheb. According to it when Kahn saheb heard this song at the muhurt of this film he was overwhelmed by it. veekay Dear Veekay, The song you are looking for is from the movie 'Garam Coat.' Modesty thy name is Indy :)
Your Shakespeare quote prompted me to tell that I got a chance to visit Sratford-upon-Avon, recently, the birth place of the bard. It is as romantically a beautiful small township as "Romeo & Juliet" :) veekay You are very welcome, Romee! OOPS!
It was Tennyson, that you had quoted. Since I am still fresh from the bards ambiance, I got carried away. :) veekay Thankyou so much Indy. No worries - they were both great men!
One of the regrets I have about my last England trip was that I did not get to go to Stratford-upon-Avon and Stonehenge. My friend, who I was staying with, had developed an unfortunate, but not uncharacteristic aversion to the great Bard, and put his foot down about going to Stratford. About Stonehenge, he scoffed at me for wanting to go see 'a bunch of stones.' Hopefully, I will rectify this in subsequent trips there. :) Indydave |
